The right sensor for every process condition

In process and manufacturing industry the sensor is chosen by the conditions of the point — temperature range, pressure, medium and mounting — not by the name of the industry. Conditioning & calibration

Beyond the standard sensor

Beyond the standard sensor, Kjaerulf Pedersen conditions, stabilises and calibrates each measuring point to the demands of the application.

Cryo treatment

For cold applications, cryo treatment conditions the sensor material so it keeps measuring reliably well below its standard range.

Ageing treatment

Sensors drift over time, especially under fluctuating heat. Ageing stabilises the sensor for long-term stability and minimum drift — steadier readings and more predictable calibration intervals.

Calibration

In-house calibration across −33 to +700 °C, plus accredited laboratory calibration from −196 to +1200 °C where it is required.

Beyond temperature

Condition monitoring: catch developing faults before downtime

Condition monitoring watches the health of rotating equipment — motors, pumps, fans, compressors and gearboxes — so a fault is caught while it is still developing. Vibration is the earliest warning of mechanical wear: it shows an emerging fault at roughly 10% development, against roughly 40% before a temperature alarm and roughly 60% before it becomes audible. Kjaerulf Pedersen develops and builds its own vibration, motion and dewpoint sensors alongside its temperature range — one supplier for temperature and condition monitoring, plug and play into a PLC or SCADA system for predictive maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use an RTD or a thermocouple?

For most process temperatures, Pt100 and Pt1000 RTDs are the standard choice for their accuracy and stability. For the high heat of furnaces, kilns and boilers, thermocouples (usually type K) are used, in a heat-proof or ceramic-protected sheath. The selection guide shows which fits each point.

What temperature range do your sensors cover?

From cold applications through to the high heat of furnaces and kilns. RTDs cover the lower and mid range; ceramic-protected thermocouples handle furnace and kiln heat; and for cold applications, an optional cryo treatment extends a sensor below its standard range. The selection guide lists the range for each sensor family.

Do you supply thermowells, and to what standard?

Yes — weld-in, threaded, barstock and flanged thermowells, built to DIN 43772 — including barstock thermowells machined from solid bar. A thermowell protects the sensor from pressure, flow and corrosion, and lets the measuring insert be replaced without breaking the process seal.

Do you supply material certificates and documentation?

Yes — these are specified with the sensor when you order it: a 3.1 material certificate, a certificate of origin and a certificate of conformity.

Do you supply OEMs and machine builders?

Yes — this is core to our business. We develop and manufacture sensors to your specification for machine builders and manufacturers to embed in their own equipment. Everything is developed and produced in-house, from prototype through to volume, so you work directly with the people who design and build the sensor.

Do you offer condition monitoring as well as temperature sensors?

Yes. Alongside temperature, Kjaerulf Pedersen develops its own vibration (KPV200), motion (KPM100) and humidity/dewpoint (KPH300) sensors for condition monitoring. Vibration gives the earliest warning of mechanical wear on rotating equipment — well before a temperature alarm — so maintenance can be planned rather than forced (predictive maintenance). They plug into a PLC or SCADA system over Modbus.

Can you match or replace a sensor in our existing equipment?

Yes — that is what we do. We manufacture to your specification: immersion length, sheath material, process connection, cable and plug, sensor element and output. Send us the data of the existing sensor and we will match it.

What about marine, hygienic or oil & gas requirements?
