Application

Type BUI is a marine and industrial temperature sensor with a fixed measuring insert for temperature measurement in process systems. An extension neck provides thermal separation between the process and the connection head, protecting transmitters and electrical connections. The sensor can be installed directly or together with a thermowell where the application requires one.

It is suitable for measuring the temperature of air, steam, gases, water and oils in closed pipes and tanks. It can be used at pressures up to 50 bar and flow velocities up to 25 m/s, where the mechanical load on the protection tube becomes the limiting factor.

When installed in a PW1, PW4 or PW-TU thermowell, the thermowell remains installed in the process while the sensor can be removed for calibration or replacement, preserving both the immersion depth and the pressure boundary.

Approved for both marine and offshore installations, it is suitable for engine rooms, tank and cargo systems, offshore platforms and a wide range of industrial applications.

The operating temperature depends on the measuring principle selected. RT-BUI, fitted with a Pt100 or Pt1000 resistance element, measures temperatures up to 600 °C. TC-BUI, using a Type K, J, N, T or E thermocouple, extends the measuring range to 1150 °C.

Properties

Sensor element
RT-BUI with Pt100 or Pt1000 to IEC 60751 for temperatures up to 600 °C, or TC-BUI with type K, J, N, T or E to IEC 60584-1 for temperatures up to 1150 °C.
