Wind — from bearing to tower sway

A wind turbine is a complete measuring task: bearing and gear temperatures, nacelle climate, brake and motor wear, tower movement. KP covers it with one sensor platform — temperature sensors designed into the drivetrain, and condition monitoring straight into your SCADA.

A sensor partner for OEMs

Green energy technology is new technology: new media, new geometries, new duty cycles. That rarely fits a standard sensor. KP builds to your specification — element type, sheath material, immersion length, connection, cable, plug and output — from prototype to series. And KP develops its own sensor technology: the KPV200’s on-board FFT processing and the KPM100’s motion platform are in-house developments you can design into your product.

Frequently asked questions

Which sensors are used in a wind turbine?

Bearing and gear temperature sensors (such as the RTBC series) in the drivetrain, humidity/dewpoint monitoring in the nacelle (KPH300), vibration sensors on rotating components (KPV200) and motion sensors for tower sway and foundation movement (KPM100) — all integrating with the turbine's SCADA platform.

Do you supply sensors for hydrogen and Power-to-X plants?

Yes — temperature sensors and thermowells for hydrogen production and Power-to-X facilities, with head-mounted transmitters available in EEX variants for classified zones. Contact us with your application details and our experts will configure the right solution.

What about biogas plants?

We supply process temperature sensors for digesters, gas lines and heating circuits — including mineral-insulated and thermowell-mounted designs — plus the KPH300 for humidity and dewpoint monitoring. If you operate a biogas-fuelled CHP plant, see Power & Energy.

Can KP develop a sensor to our OEM specification?

Yes — that is our core business. We manufacture to your specification: element (Pt100, Pt1000, NTC or thermocouple), sheath material, dimensions, process connection, cable, plug and output signal, from prototype quantities to series production.

What is the difference between Green Tec and Power & Energy?

Green Tec is for the companies that build green energy technology — turbine OEMs, plant builders, fuel cell and electrolysis manufacturers. Power & Energy covers the operation of energy plants: power plants, waste incineration, turbines and gen sets. Four technologies appear in both areas — the difference is whether you build the technology or operate the asset.

How do the sensors integrate with our control system?

The KPV200 and KPM100 communicate via Modbus (KPV200 also Bluetooth) and connect directly to a PLC. Temperature sensors are available with 4–20 mA, HART or Profibus transmitters for integration with any modern SCADA or building management platform.
