Temperature sensors, thermocouples and thermowells for power plants, turbines, gen sets, biogas and waste incineration — built to DIN and IEC standards, interchangeable 1:1 with what is in your plant today, and configured to your exact measuring point.
Kjaerulf Pedersen a/s designs and manufactures temperature sensors, thermocouples, thermowells and condition monitoring sensors for the power and energy sector — built to DIN and IEC standards and configured to the individual measuring point, from the steam circuit to 1700 °C in the combustion zone.
Corrosive flue gas and constant high temperatures wear ordinary sensors down. KP builds incineration thermocouples to match the zone they measure in: type K and N for combustion zones, noble-metal type S, R and B where temperatures and stability demands are highest — ceramic-protected up to 1700 °C.
Eight application areas cover the power and energy sector. Each links to the matching products in our catalogue.
Boilers, steam and water circuits, flue gas and auxiliary systems — sensors for the whole plant.
High-temperature thermocouples for waste-to-energy and biomass combustion.
Bearing, oil, steam and exhaust measurement — vibration-resistant designs.
Engine, exhaust, cooling and bearing sensors for continuous and standby operation.
Process and engine temperature measurement for biogas-fuelled CHP operation.
Sensors for operating and maintaining wind assets — bearings, nacelle systems, retrofit.
Temperature measurement in solar plant operation and thermal storage.
Compact and mineral-insulated sensors for fuel cell systems in energy production.
Choose by what you need to measure — every sensor is configured to order in length, material, connection and output.

All sensors are available with head-mounted transmitters — 4–20 mA, HART, Profibus and EEX variants — for direct integration with plant control systems.
Pumps, fans, turbines and generators wear over time, and a change in vibration is the earliest sign — a developing fault shows in the vibration signature at roughly 10% progression, long before a temperature alarm (around 40%) or an audible symptom (around 60%). KP's condition-monitoring sensors watch for that change continuously, so you plan and target maintenance before a forced outage.
Continuously monitors vibration on motors, pumps, fans, turbines and other rotating equipment. A change in the vibration signature is the earliest indicator of bearing or component wear — giving you the lead time to act before a breakdown and focus maintenance where it's needed.
KPV200 →Angle, direction and acceleration — tower sway and foundation movement on wind assets and structures, with early warning when something moves in ways it shouldn't.
KPM100 →Humidity, temperature and dewpoint in one IP67 sensor — reduces condensation risk in enclosures, substations and technical rooms.
KPH300 →DIN 43772 thermowells, IEC 60584-1 thermocouples and IEC 60751 RTDs — and thermowell systems with interchangeable inserts. Our sensors replace what is in your plant 1:1, without redesign or requalification.
The right material for the medium: DIN boiler steels 13CrMo44 and C22.8 for high-pressure steam, acid-proof 316Ti and 316L, heat-proof steel and gas-proof ceramics for the hottest zones — special materials on request.
Standard designs, your dimensions: immersion length, process connection, cable, plug and output are built to order — also in small volumes.
Every sensor is developed and manufactured by KP — you talk directly to the people who design and build it, not to a reseller.
Pt100 RTD sensors are typically used in steam and water circuits, on bearings and in auxiliary systems, while thermocouples handle combustion chambers, flue gas and other high-temperature zones. Thermowells protect the sensors and allow replacement without opening the process.
As a rule of thumb: RTDs (Pt100/Pt1000) offer the best accuracy up to around 600 °C; above that, thermocouples take over. Type K and N cover most combustion applications, while noble-metal types S, R and B are used for the highest temperatures and where long-term stability is critical.
Yes — with a thermowell or a modular sensor with a replaceable measuring insert (such as Type B, or D/DS/DDS sensors in DIN 43772 weld-in thermowells), the sensing element can be exchanged without emptying or interrupting the process.
Materials are matched to the medium and the plant specification: DIN boiler steels 13CrMo44 and C22.8 for high-pressure steam and weld-in thermowells (DIN 43772), acid-proof AISI 316Ti and 316L for general and corrosive service, and heat-proof steel and gas-proof KER ceramics for the hottest zones. Special materials on request.
Yes. Sensors are available with head-mounted transmitters with 4–20 mA, HART or Profibus output, and the KPV200 vibration sensor connects directly to a PLC via MODBUS — plug and play.
Yes. Operating assets are covered here under Power & Energy. If you are building the technology itself — wind turbines, solar plants, hydrogen and Power-to-X, biogas plants or fuel cells — see our Green Tec industry area.
Yes — that is our core business. We manufacture to your specification: immersion length, sheath material, process connection, cable and plug, sensor element and output. Send us the data of the existing sensor and we will match it.
Tell us your measuring point — media, temperature range, process connection and signal — and we will suggest the right configuration.
