Quick Connect clamp-on temperature sensor with stainless steel protection head and M12 plug, mounted in a clamping block on a pipe
The protection head sits directly on the clamping block, so the transmitter and the connection stay at the measuring point.

Application

The clamp-on sensor with protection head measures the temperature of the pipe’s outer surface, without entering the process. The head keeps the electronics at the measuring point, so the signal is converted where it is measured.

The silver measuring face against the pipe wall

The measuring face is silver, and a spring holds it against the pipe wall. That contact is the thermal path from pipe to sensor element, and the spring maintains it regardless of tolerances, thermal expansion and vibration. Response time τ0.5 is 6 to 12 seconds.

Non-invasive – nothing enters the pipe

Two blocks are clamped around the pipe and the sensor measures through the wall. There is no process connection to seal and no hole to weld, so a measuring point can be added to an existing line without cutting into it, and temperature can be verified from the outside, for example on steam sterilisation lines.

Head version – the electronics sit at the measuring point

The protection head houses the transmitter, so the signal is converted at the pipe: 4–20 mA, with HART 5 & 7 for diagnostics and configuration over the same loop, or Profibus. That is what the head is for. Where the electronics are to sit elsewhere, the version with cable carries the signal out to them. The head is stainless steel with a screw cap, IP67, with a PG9 cable gland or an M12x1 plug, and it can be turned to point in the direction the installation requires.

The sensor comes out of the block

The sensor is held in the block by a bayonet nipple, so it can be taken out for calibration or replacement while the blocks stay on the pipe, the same release principle as the rest of the Quick Connect program.

For pipes from 6 to 25 mm

The blocks fit pipe diameters from 6 to 25 mm; special sizes on request. 1 × Pt100 to tolerance class A, measuring range -50 to +150 °C.
