The clamp-on sensor with cable measures the temperature of the pipe’s outer surface, without entering the process. The signal runs through the cable to wherever the electronics are placed.
The measuring face is silver, and a spring holds it against the pipe wall. That contact is the thermal path from pipe to sensor element, and the spring maintains it regardless of tolerances, thermal expansion and vibration. Response time τ0.5 is 6 to 12 seconds.
Two blocks are clamped around the pipe and the sensor measures through the wall. There is no process connection to seal and no hole to weld, so a measuring point can be added to an existing line without cutting into it, and temperature can be verified from the outside, for example on steam sterilisation lines.
This version carries the signal out on cable in 2, 4, 6 or 10 m to a transmitter mounted away from the pipe, giving 4–20 mA with HART 5 & 7, or Profibus. The version with a protection head keeps the electronics at the measuring point instead.
The sensor is held in the block by a bayonet nipple, so it can be taken out for calibration or replacement while the blocks stay on the pipe, the same release principle as the rest of the Quick Connect program.
The blocks fit pipe diameters from 6 to 25 mm; special sizes on request. 1 × Pt100 to tolerance class A, measuring range -50 to +150 °C.
